An early telling
The Lore.
A rare pack of Coton de Tulears, originating near Lake Michigan.
Unlike Lycans, Lakans do not transform under a full moon. They remain fluffy, unpredictable, and delightfully troublesome at all times.

The beginning
The joy of
belonging.
Lakans are not born as heroes.
They become one when they discover their greatest power: the joy of belonging.
It is a magic made from love, connection, TLC, curiosity, mischief, and the certainty that they have a place in the world — and in one another’s lives.
The Origin
Where the lake
meets the city.
Along a lakeshore of blue water and bright wind, through the many towns of Chicagoland, wandered a pack of seven Coton de Tulears.
Chicagoans who encountered the little pack gave them a name: the Lakans — those from the lands of Lake Michigan, gently leaving trails of delight wherever they went.
They have been known by that name ever since.

The awakening
The character
within.
Every Lakan begins as a real dog with a real life. In time, the qualities already visible in that life become the seed of a character: a street name, a signature color, a small power, a bigger story.

One lake, one family
Seven personalities.
One current.
They do not see the world the same way. They do not behave the same way. They certainly do not agree on everything.
But the Lakans belong to one another. This lore will grow alongside them, always beginning with the real dogs and the lives they are living.
